Streaming media – the process of broadcasting video and audio “live” over the internet - is one of the digital age's hidden gems. Its potential was realised early on, but the internet's infrastructure was insufficient to handle the bandwidth it demanded, and as such, much of the development that would have gone into it back in the 90’s, is only just starting to move forwards again.
